My submission for SylwiaTelari's stock challenge
, used this
as a reference.
Phew! Just managed to finish this in time. I made the sketch for this on the same day as the Sir Mousemy
sketch, but I didn't have time to paint it until now.
As before, I tried to use this challenge as an opportunity to practice painting with watercolours and trying to relax and enjoy the painting process. I tend to stress out when a drawing doesn't look perfect immediately, even though I know from experience that if you work at it long enough it usually turns out all right. Incorporating and being inspired by "mistakes" is also something that I tried to practice here. The final image could obviously be better, but I'm very happy with how the walls and floor turned out, and how I managed to use both reference images. I'm not really used to doing complete pictures with backgrounds and multiple characters (I count the rat and the shadow!
), so overall I think I did well.
Used watercolours, watercolour pencils, a pro marker and a black pen. Inspired partly by Disney, especially the fond memories I have of such childhood favourites as Sleeping Beauty
and Sword in the Stone
